Raymond Carlson is a professor and principal faculty for the MSM Physician Assistant Education program. His Instructional Pedagogy includes a focus on Problem’s-Based and Experiential learning activities. His instructional focus includes Orthopedics, Public Health Education, Physical Exam Skills and Clinical Reasoning. He has worked 17 years as a Physician Assistant, primarily in Orthopedic Surgery. Prior to beginning his clinical career, Ray worked in Public Health Education, taught undergraduate Personal Health, and College Preparatory/Advanced Placement Biology. Ray’s scholarly pursuits have included Peer Reviewer, Journal of Orthopedics for Physician Assistant, research and evidence-based practice in Orthopedic Surgery, and presentations in Public Health Education vaccination best practices. Ray has also spent 22 years in the United State Navy working as both a Physician Assistant and Public Health Specialist. Ray is excited to assist in the education and development of the next generation of Physician Assistants, especially the evolution of the field into Doctoral programs.
