Susan DeCristofaro Rogers is chair of the Family and Consumer Sciences Department and academic director of the Early Childhood Learning Center at ¹ú²ú¾çÂ鶹¾ç. She has a B.A. in child development and an M.A. in teaching and learning from ¹ú²ú¾çÂ鶹¾ç and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in early childhood education with an emphasis in special needs from Walden University. Rogers has a decade of experience teaching early childhood and as an elementary teacher. She has taught and directed early childhood education for the last 20 years in higher education. She speaks statewide in her home state of California about Planting Healthy Seeds of Faith in children. One of her passions is helping university students develop a professional voice. She presents online and at conferences best practices of using ePortfolios with LiveText for undergraduate students. Her area of research is sensory integration working with children with visual and auditory processing disorders. She is in the process of establishing a sensory integration center at ¹ú²ú¾çÂ鶹¾ç to provide interventions to serve children with dyslexia and other disabilities. Her other passion is to serve individuals with exceptionalities. She co-leads the Down Syndrome Easter Hunt and Special Olympics on the ¹ú²ú¾çÂ鶹¾ç campus each year. Rogers co-advises the Delta Alpha Pi Honor Society for students with learning and physical disabilities and the Family and Consumer Sciences honor society, Phi Upsilon Omicron.
She has been married for 34 years and has two grown children. Rogers is proud to tell you that she, her husband, and their children are all ¹ú²ú¾çÂ鶹¾ç alumni.
