- Is this something that would benefit me or my child as an athlete?
- We believe so! Anyone looking to dive a little deeper into their movement patterns that define their performance or injury risk could potentially benefit from a biomechanical assessment in our lab.
- How long will I be at the ¹ú²ú¾çÂ鶹¾ç Padres Biomechanics Lab?
- The total time will depend on how long you need to get warmed up and the types of throws or swings you wish to assess. However, the test itself should take no longer than a half-hour.
- Does insurance cover this visit?
- Typically, insurance does not cover these specialized biomechanical assessments. The self-pay rates can be found .
- What should I wear?
- Sports apparel with strong color contrast is ideal for the motion captures. You can wear either turf shoes or cleats. But feel free to bring whatever else you normally wear during practices or games.
- Do I need to bring a catcher?
- Preferably yes. However, we can arrange to have a catcher available during your session if you let us know a couple of days in advance. We also have a 9-pocket you can throw to as an option.
- Do you only see baseball players?
- While our primary analyses involve baseball-specific movements such as overhead throwing and hitting, we do have the capability to biomechanically assess other movements such as softball pitching, gait (walking and running), and golf swings.
- When can I expect to see the results of the assessment?
- You will typically receive a link to an online report of your results within 48 hours. In addition, you can schedule a time to meet with one of our team members, either in-person or virtually, to discuss the results in greater detail.
